Photography: Light My Candle

This photo symbolizes many things. One that draws the subject in, is the notion that each candle represents a person. Many people want to blend together, to look and act the same so that they don't attract any unnecessary attention, while there is one that stands out from the crowd with that special spark, one person who doesn't care to fit into the crowd. The other theme in this picture is that of motivation. "Lighting a fire under me to get me going."

Photography (Series): Beauty From Harsh Conditions

This short series demonstrates how the greatest beauty is created out of the most difficult of circumstances, or the harshest conditions. 

The subject looks here like she is lost. When we are just going into or coming out of a difficult time in our lives it is easy to feel lost, confused, or disoriented. We wander around in our situation looking for a safe place to camp out until it settles down.

The subject here looks like she could be hiding from something. When difficult situations arise, we tend to push them to the back of our minds. Rather than deal with our issues we push them away and hide.

The rose is a well known symbol for beauty and love, and flowers are symbolic of growth. Our beauty only grows the more we struggle through the mystery of life, learning from mistakes and unfair trials.
